In any given week, headlines are dominated by news about US-China trade wars and technology competition. To understand how and why this affects our lives and the way we conduct business, join the Paulson Institute and Harris Public Policy for an evening discussion with author Matt Sheehan as it launches the first-of-its-kind series at 1871: Decoding China.

As the only independent “think and do” tank in Chicago focused on US-China relations, the Paulson Institute will offer a regular and unique slate of programming that aims to unpack the world’s second-largest economy.

The inaugural series kicks off with Matt Sheehan, Fellow at MacroPolo, the think tank of the Paulson Institute, and author of the book The Transpacific Experiment: How China and California Collaborate and Compete for Our Future. It explores the myriad linkages between the Golden State and the People's Republic: Hollywood and the Chinese film industry; Chinese property tycoons and California housing markets, and one of the most pressing issues today, the US-China technology relationship.

So come for the happy hour and stay for the insights. Reception starts at 5:30 pm and the program will begin around 6:30 pm.

The event is free and open to the public.
