Join 1871 for the 2019 International Women’s Day opening event - a conversation between Charles Schwab’s Chief Digital Officer and Executive Vice President, Neesha Hathi and 1871 CEO Betsy Ziegler.

Breakfast will be provided by a vendor from the ChiBuys Program, an initiative to support local, minority or woman-owned caterers.

Neesha Hathi leads Charles Schwab's Digital Services organization that serves over $3 trillion in client assets and over 11 million accounts through the Investor Services and Advisor Services lines of business.  In her role, Hathi is responsible for defining and developing the strategy, offers, and experiences to drive the growth and loyalty of existing and prospective clients.  Hathi oversees the digital platforms that support retail and registered independent advisor (RIA) clients, digital advice solutions, including Schwab Intelligent Portfolios® and Schwab Intelligent Advisory™, asset management client solutions, and business innovation.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2004, Hathi held leadership roles in strategy, marketing, and finance for various start-ups, including Enuvis, a developer of GPS technology for wireless devices and Kibu, a teen media company.  She began her career in the investment banking industry, supporting the execution of initial and secondary public offerings and M&A transactions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and EVEREN Securities.

Hathi has been awarded numerous recognitions for her leadership and advocacy.  In 2016, she received the Industry Leader Award by the Professional Business Women of California and was named one of the most influential people in the industry by Investment Advisor magazine.  She has also been recognized by InvestmentNews as one of the 20 most powerful people in the industry.  In 2012, the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women also honored Hathi with the Women’s Human Rights Award for Leadership.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Ziegler is the first female CEO of 1871, which was ranked as the number one university-affiliated tech incubator in the world in 2018.

Previous to 1871, Betsy was the Chief Innovation Officer at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where she was responsible for integrating technology into the Kellogg educational experience as well as portfolio innovation. From 2011 through September 2015, she served as associate dean of degree programs and dean of students.

Prior to Kellogg, Betsy served as a principal in McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office, where she led the firm’s Life Insurance Operations and Technology practice and co-led its Financial Institutions Operations and Technology practice.

Betsy holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and received a B.A. in Economics from The Ohio State University, where she graduated with distinction. She is also is a member of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Board of Directors and an advisor and investor in many young technology companies.
